Cut diamonds come a range of different shapes and diamond cutters are always experimenting to discover more that allow the full beauty of the natural stone to shine though.  The round brilliant cut is by far the most popular diamond shape on the jewellery market.  Round Brilliant diamonds account for almost 75% of diamonds sold.  It's symmetrical shape is known to be the most optically spectacular and has been developed over a long period time (the first known reference to it appeared in a jewellers inventory in 1614) to show a superior sparkle.

Other common shapes include the Princess, Emerald, Asscher, Marquise, Oval, Radiant, Pear, Heart, Cushion and Trilliant.  The following chart shows examples of the most common diamond shapes used in jewellery today.  Please don't hesitate to visit us in store to view examples of these diamonds.
